Shifa Sadequee is a scholar of classical Islam, researcher, and translator of historical Arabic scholarship.
Shifa is the first Muslim American youth to fully self-represent (pro se) in his own trial and confront the United States Judicial System. Shifa challenged and exposed the foundational narratives of the government's War on Terror and hidden aspects of the US Empire.
As a Muslim American youth, he was racially profiled, unjustly targeted, and politically imprisoned by the United States from 2006-2020 in what activists call “Guantanamo North”, the secretly-created “Communication Management Units,” for exercising his right to express his piety and religiosity.
This website chronicles the direct impact of state violence on an American citizen— the government’s unjust targeting of and violence on Shifa, the consequences of his imprisonment on his family, and the campaign of communities across nations to free Shifa.
